Everton dealt major blow before Manchester United clash as Brazil boss makes Casemiro admission

Manchester United are believed to be on the cusp of welcoming Sir Jim Ratcliffe onboard as INEOS Sport closes in on securing a 25 per cent stake the club.

The chemical giant is understood to be edging closer and closer towards wrapping up a minority stake, ending what has been a year of speculation and frustration. Reports on Friday suggested that the announcement could arrive by Monday.

While that is a matter out of Erik ten Hag and his players' control, they are now just over a week away from resuming their Premier League campaign against Everton. United travel to Goodison Park on November 26 to mark the beginning of what can only be described as a monster schedule.

Below, MEN Sport brings you the very latest United headlines for the evening of Friday, November 17...

Everton have been deducted 10 points by the Premier League after being found guilty of breaching the division'sprofit and sustainability rules. The deduction has taken place with immediate effect, meaning they are now 19th in the Premier League table on just four points.

The Toffees said they "shocked and disappointed" by the ruling and have confirmed they will appeal the decision. The points deduction is the largest a club has ever faced in Premier League history.

It means there will be a feeling of anger and frustration around Goodison Park when the Reds rock up a week on Sunday. Come kick-off time, Everton could be bottom of the table, meaning United could face a fired-up Toffees team.
