European wrap: Freiburg boost Champions League hopes

Freiburg thrashed Werder Bremen 5-0 at the Europa-Park Stadium to climb into the Bundesliga's top four.

Vincenzo Grifo and Ritsu Doan both notched doubles in Freiburg's biggest win of the season as Julian Schuster's side stepped up their bid for Champions League football next season with a fourth straight league victory.

Kiliann Sildillia's acrobatic effort gave Freiburg a first-half lead and Grifo struck either side of the interval to put the home side in control before Doan added further goals in the closing stages.

Celta Vigo made it three games unbeaten in LaLiga after a second-half penalty from Iago Aspas clinched a 1-0 home win against Osasuna.

Udinese extended their unbeaten run to four matches in Serie A - collecting 10 points in the process - as Lorenzo Lucca's first-half penalty secured them a 1-0 win at Lecce, while Rennes beat nine-man Reims 1-0 in Ligue 1.
