Euro 2022: England celebrate wildly at hotel after winning tournament

Footage of England’s wild celebrations after winning Euro 2022 has emerged – and the players are certainly paying for it this morning.

The Lionesses made history as they defeated eight-time champions Germany 2-1 at Wembley.

Ella Toone came off the bench to score the opener in the 62nd minute, but Lina Magull sent the match to extra-time with an equaliser in the 79th minute.

Chloe Kelly, who only returned to football in April after recovering from an ACL injury, then grabbed the winner with just ten minutes of extra time remaining.

The vast majority of the 87,192 spectators in Wembley were sent into ecstasy as the final whistle blew, with the players visibly emotional as the magnitude of their achievement sunk in.

From Kelly ditching her BBC interview to sing ‘Sweet Caroline’, to the players hilariously gate-crashing Sarina Wiegman’s post-match interview, the post-match celebrations were brilliant.

And it looks like they continued long after the fans left Wembley, with the Lionesses later pictured singing and dancing in the changing room, before getting on a bus back to their hotel, The Lensbury in Teddington.

According to Sky Sports News reporter Paul Gilmore, there were a couple of hundred England fans waiting for the players when they got back.

The team took the opportunity to continue their celebrations, dancing in front of the hotel with the Euro 2022 trophy as the fans sang ‘Three Lions’.
