Euro 2022: Ellen White projection displayed on White Cliffs of Dover

Leading travel brand Snaptrip has projected an enormous image of England striker Ellen White onto The White Cliffs of Dover ahead of Euro 2022.

The projection, which stands at a gigantic 200 feet tall, lit up the famous chalk cliffs in Kent on Thursday night.

Snaptrip has also encouraged football fans to sign its petition to rename the popular tourist destination ‘The Ellen White Cliffs of Dover’ for the duration of the Euros.

Matthew Fox, the CEO of Snaptrip Group — which has 60,000 holiday cottages, lodges and apartments across the UK — said it was “only right to celebrate one of the best footballers the country has to offer at one of the UK’s most iconic landmarks.”

Indeed, White is England women’s all-time leading goalscorer, having netted 50 goals since scoring on her senior international debut in 2010.

Last November, the Manchester City star beat Kelly Smith’s record for most goals scored in a Lionesses shirt. She contributed a hat-trick to her country’s 20-0 demolition over Latvia, which set a new record as England’s largest victory for both the men’s and women’s teams.

As well as her unrivalled goalscoring record for England, White has enjoyed blockbuster moments on some of the biggest stages in the world.

The forward featured at three consecutive World Cups in 2011, 2015 and 2019. She helped England win the bronze medal in 2015 and went on to scoop the Bronze Boot award in 2019 after finishing as the third-highest goalscorer.

White also represented Great Britain at the 2012 and 2020 Olympics. With six goals across the two tournaments, she is Team GB’s all-time top scorer at the Games.
