Erling Haaland wins top PFA honour as five Man City stars recognised

Erling Haaland's debut season has seen him voted PFA Player of the Year on a night when he and four of his teammates were voted into the best XI.

Haaland made an instant impact for Manchester City after a £51m move from Dortmund last summer and his 52 goals in all competitions included breaking a number of records including the highest ever managed in a Premier League campaign (36). However, winning the main prize means that City have now claimed it three times in the last four years after Kevin De Bruyne's double in 2020 and 2021.

Nominees for the Ballon d'Or will be announced next week, when the Norwegian will be a frontrunner for the most prestigious individual prize in football but faces stiff competition from Lionel Messi after his World Cup win with Argentina.
