Erling Haaland was "burden in the dressing room" before Man City move and more transfer rumours

Borussia Dortmund's sporting director Sebastian Kehl has sensationally claimed Erling Haaland was a "burden in the dressing room" before his transfer to Manchester City this summer.

Haaland has been scoring goals for fun at City, and now he has translated his domestic form to the continent after scoring two goals against Sevilla on Tuesday night. There is no doubt about how well the Norwegian has settled into life at his new club, but Kehl's recent comments have shed light on the manner in which he departed the Bundesliga club.

According to Sky Germany (via Sport Witness ), the Black and Yellow's sporting director insists that he was happy to see the 22-year-old leave the club.

Kehl said: “As much as we always liked Erling, and as successful as he was with us – in the end the topic also became a certain burden in the dressing room, at the club and in the environment. Almost everything simply focused on him in the outside world and covered up many BVB issues that would also have been important.

“[It was] ultimately the right one for both sides. The time without him offers us the opportunity for other players to get more space and the lack of focus on Erling represents a chance for us as a team."

Elsewhere, GiveMeSport report that Southampton are delighted with the £10million deal that saw Samuel Edozie leave City on a permanent basis this summer.

It is understood that the Blues have a buy-back clause for the 19-year-old, who has impressed the Saints with his early performances in training. The report claims that Southampton see Edozie as a perfect fit for the club, and that internally they are far more excited with the deal than the rest of the world appear to be.
