Erling Haaland references Aston Villa transfer fee as Jack Grealish joke made
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has referenced the £100 million fee Aston Villa received for Jack Grealish whilst talking about the pressure he may feel going into his first season in English football.
Grealish, 26, secured a £100 million transfer to join Pep Guardiola's squad last summer, but failed to live up to the lofty price tag, as he went on to record just three goals and three assists across 26 Premier League appearances.
Man City have gone on to add further firepower to their embarrassment of riches ahead of the new season, after securing the £50 million signing of Norwegian striker Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. The 22-year-old striker is fresh from 30 goal involvements within the Bundesliga last season and will become the new focal point of an already intimidating attack for Guardiola.
Grealish has commented on the signing of Haaland after City's pre-season victory against Club America, where he revealed a joke Haaland made regarding the £100 million fee Villa received for Grealish. He said: "He actually said to me, 'I’m only half the price of you so I haven’t got the pressure!'. He’s so down to earth and quite up front with the way he is."
