Kevin de Bruyne makes 'assist' joke in comment to Man City teammate Erling Haaland

On the evidence so far, Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne are bonding pretty well on the pitch for Manchester City, and that appears to be the case off the pitch as well.

Sunday saw City begin their Premier League title defence with a 2-0 defeat of West Ham, during which the eagerly anticipated Haaland and De Bruyne partnership produced its first goal. Midway through the second half, Haaland latched on to an inch-perfect through-ball from his Belgian teammate, leaving the defenders for dead before coolly slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

It was some goal, proof that the duo will form quite the attacking partnership this season. Technical quality is just one ingredient that makes a lethal partnership, though; two players must have good chemistry if they are to play effectively together, and judging by their latest exchange on Instagram Haaland and De Bruyne have a burgeoning friendship, too.

On Tuesday evening Haaland posted a photo of him perusing the menu as a restaurant with the caption: "About the order the whole menu."

Always keen to play the creator, De Bruyne replied with: "You want me to hold the menu and assist you?"

To that the 22-year-old replied: "Yes, I'm dreaming of it every night don't know why."

City player taking the mick out of each other's social media posts is nothing new. The likes of De Bruyne, Kyle Walker and Jack Grealish never miss an opportunity to make a joke at someone else's expense.
