Gary Neville believes that 'superhuman' Erling Haaland is keeping Pep Guardiola at Manchester City having created an exciting project for the Catalan manager.

Haaland has been in incredible form for City since he arrived from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. In just 13 competitive appearances for the Blues, the Norwegian talisman has scored a remarkable 20 goals.

Those goals have helped City remain unbeaten in both the Premier League and Champions League, the latter of which they have already reached the knockout stages in. Neville believes that due to the signing of Haaland, no other club in European football is an attractive proposition to him.

Speaking on Sky Bet's The Overlap, the former United defender said: " Manchester City have been phenomenal for years now, but I got bored of watching them – in a respectful way – because it seemed to be the same every week. You’ve put this robot, animal, machine [Erling Haaland] – this superhuman individual up front who seems to just change the game completely.

"Going to City and watching him – you cannot help but think: ‘What is that?’ Pep Guardiola could’ve left Manchester City by now, but he’s chosen to stay because there’s no other projects he looks at in the whole of European football.

"I suspect that Manchester may not be the best place in the world for him to live – I’m sure he would love to live in a different place in Europe but if he looks at a football project and thinks: ‘Where am I going to get this?’ anywhere in Europe, he isn’t getting that anywhere. To build that team at City with Haaland up front, he might never manage a team like this again.
