Erling Haaland makes promise to Man City fans ahead of FA Cup final vs Manchester United

Erling Haaland has promised Manchester City fans that the team “will give everything” to beat rivals Manchester United in Saturday’s FA Cup final to keep the Treble dream alive and earn derby bragging rights.

The Blues are gunning for their first FA Cup since 2019, the only occasion they have lifted the trophy during Pep Guardiola’s reign. Haaland has called for his teammates to put in a “big performance” to down United in the first ever FA Cup final Manchester derby.

The 22-year-old scored a hat-trick against the Reds in October’s 6-3 thrashing at the Etihad, also providing two assists. However, he found no joy in January’s reverse fixture when a controversial Bruno Fernandes equaliser and a Marcus Rashford winner saw the hosts win 2-1.

Haaland has detailed how he wants revenge at Wembley on Saturday as he looks to increase his 51-goal tally for the season.

Speaking to the FA’s media team ahead of the clash, Haaland said he understood the gravity of a cup final against United, outlining: “We know how important this match is for the fans.

“We want to make them proud and we will give everything to try and make them happy. We had an amazing result at the Etihad in the Premier League which was a very special day in my first Manchester derby, before a frustrating result in the away fixture. We need another big performance to try and get the win.”

The final comes just two weeks after Haaland clasped hands on the Premier League trophy after a record-breaking 36-goal haul in the competition. He outlined how much he enjoys playing in a star-studded City team, hailing the mentality of his colleagues.
