What Marcus Rashford did at full-time after Manchester United's FA Cup final loss to Man City

Marcus Rashford showed support for his Manchester United teammates after suffering defeat in the FA Cup final.

The forward was aiming to lift the famous trophy for the second time in his career as he lined up at Wembley on Saturday. Rashford has enjoyed his most prolific season for United this year, reaching 30 goals across all competitions, but was unable to fire his boyhood team to glory against rivals Manchester City.

An incredibly early strike from Ilkay Gundogan, inside the first minute, took United by surprise but Erik ten Hag’s side found a way to get themselves back level before the end of the first half through Bruno Fernandes's penalty. Both sides were searching for a cup double but a goal for City, soon after the half-time break, proved to be decisive.

A second volley from Gundogan, after receiving the ball from a Kevin De Bruyne free-kick, managed to evade David De Gea despite the United ‘keeper getting a glove to the winning goal. United failed to take their chances to level the scoreline and were forced to watch their local rivals lift the FA Cup and potentially match United’s unprecedented treble next weekend.

It meant that a relatively successful season for United ended with defeat at Wembley, which led to a heartbreaking post from youngster Alejandro Garnacho. Walking around the pitch at full-time, Rashford took it upon himself to ensure that his teammates did not wallow after the loss.
