Erling Haaland makes humble admission over stunning Man City goal form

Erling Haaland admits his Manchester City teammates have played a key role in helping him hit the ground running in the Premier League this season.

Having been unable to replace Sergio Aguero last summer, City remained patient in the market and won the race for Haaland's signature this summer. He cost £51million from Borussia Dortmund and has totted-up jaw-dropping numbers for the club in all competitions since then; 19 goals in 12 appearances.

Haaland is some way clear in the domestic charts with 14 goals in eight games — including a superb hat-trick to help settle the Manchester derby last weekend. However, while that is an unparalleled return, the 22-year-old insists credit must also go to his supply-line.

During an interview with MCFC media, Haaland said: "It's a hard competition and I'm lucky to be in a really good team here at City. Hard work is really important, but you have to believe in yourself and you also have to be calm.

"I thought I would adapt but you never know in a new country, new city with new players and a new coach. You never know as sometimes things can take a bit more time, but for me it's going quite quickly and I'm comfortable, that's the most important thing."

Haaland added: "I thought it would be hard work, but I also knew that the players have been playing together for many years. I was coming into a team that scored 100 goals last year so for me it was about coming into the team to do what I do best."

After starting his career with Norwegian and Austrian clubs, Haaland moved to Dortmund in January 2020 when United were also in the pursuit for his services. He scored 85 goals in 88 matches for the Bundesliga giants before City got their man in time
