Erling Haaland injury latest and timescale for Man City return ahead of Everton

Manchester City supporters are eagerly awaiting the return of Erling Haaland from injury ahead of the world champions' return to the Premier League.

We last saw the Norwegian in a blue shirt against Aston Villa at the beginning of the month. Haaland was ruled out of the victory over Luton Town due to injury. He has not played for his club since although he travelled to Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup which City won.

Pep Guardiola's side make their Premier League return on Wednesday when they travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton. MEN Sport has taken a look at the latest regarding his injury.

Ahead of the Luton fixture, Pep Guardiola said Haaland was suffering a 'stress injury' to his foot. This was misinterpreted as being a fracture but the City boss set the record straight post-match to rule out any form of break.

Haaland travelled to the FIFA Club World Cup with his teammates but did not get on the pitch. However, the 23-year-old and his fellow injury victim Jeremy Doku did train individually in Saudi Arabia.

Guardiola has been reluctant to give too many details on Haaland's fitness, preferring to concentrate on the Club World Cup when asked most recently. Before the tournament, the Catalonian admitted his talisman was 50/50 to feature in the Middle East but the competition came too soon for him.

Haaland is 'touch and go' for the trip to Goodison Park. But, the extra break at the Club World Cup could mean he is in a stronger position to play on Merseyside.
