Erling Haaland in Rangers race against time as Borussia Dortmund superstar faces late fitness test for Europa League showdown

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland ramped up his bid to prove his fitness ahead of facing Rangers on Tuesday.

However, reports in Germany claim that the superstar will NOT be fit to start the Europa League second leg.

The Norwegian forward has been hampered by injury problems and sat out the first leg of the play-off tie with an adductor issue as Gio van Bronckhorst's men ran out 4-2 winners.

Haaland took part in full training on Monday ahead of the crucial second leg at Ibrox, and Bild report he trained with the first-team on Tuesday.

He then took part in an extra session with teammates Steffen Tigges and Reinier as he looked to show he was fit enough to travel with Marco Rose's side.

However, the German outlet claim he is still not up to full fitness due to the muscular issues that kept him out of Rangers ' visit to the Westfalenstadion.

A decision will be left as late as possible on if Haaland is ready to play some part in the game and jet out to Glasgow on Wednesday, but he would only be capable of a "short use" in the game off the bench.

Rose is reportedly keen to avoid risking the striker as Dortmund look to keep ahold of their Champions League spot in the Bundesliga in the final run-in.

Haaland has not played for Dortmund since their 3-2 win at Hoffenheim on January 22.
