Eriksen decision nearing, as reasons why two of Man Utd, Tottenham and Brentford might miss out emerge

Christian Eriksen has narrowed his decision down to two of Man Utd, Tottenham and Brentford, and the reasons behind his thinking have surfaced.

The Dane was a revelation upon signing for the Bees on a six-month contract in January. Eriksen quickly reminded Premier League audiences what he was capable of, pulling the strings in Thomas Frank’s midfield to thrust Brentford clear of the drop zone.

However, his short-term deal did not include an option on Brentford’s end. As such, the 30-year-old is free to find a new club this summer if he so desires.

Man Utd, Tottenham and Brentford have all been linked with offering the Dane a contract. A move to each club has its respective merits, with Spurs able to offer Champions League football for example.

Contrastingly, Sky Sports report Man Utd have offered the most lucrative terms, while Brentford can offer the greatest guarantee of playing time.

However, per Sky, a move to Tottenham is now off the table.

That stems from Eriksen only being capable of playing in a central role and Spurs have already signed Yves Bissouma this window.

The ex-Brighton ace has been added to an engine room that already contains Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur. To ensure a lack of game-time doesn’t disrupt his Denmark chances at the World Cup, a return to north London is now deemed unlikely.

Instead, Eriksen will reportedly choose between United and Brentford. Both have tabled offers, though United’s is reportedly the more financially lucrative.

However, working against Erik ten Hag’s side are two significant factors.

Firstly, Eriksen is hesitant to relocate away from the south east where he is settled. Furthermore, his playing time concerns would be heightened by the more star-studded squad
