Erik ten Hag told which Manchester United players will fit into his system

Julian Green believes Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford will thrive under incoming Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman will become United manager at the end of the season with Ralf Rangnick set to take on a consultancy role. Ten Hag was announced as the next man in charge last Thursday, putting an end to months of speculation over the successor to the interim coach.

United's hopes of Champions League football were dealt another blow on Saturday as they slumped to a dismal 3-1 defeat to fellow top-four chasers Arsenal. With a squad overhaul said to be on the agenda, Rangnick claimed as many as 10 new signings could be made this summer.

After finishing second in 2021, the club have failed to build on their solid campaign. Rashford and Fernandes are two of the key members of the squad who have failed to replicate their form from last season, whilst Sancho has taken time to settle into life in the Premier League.

USA international Green worked under Ten Hag during his time at Bayern Munich II, and he believes the three aforementioned players will relish the arrival of the Dutchman. He told MEN Sport: "First, United has great players and I think Erik is great at building with what he has and presenting a clear vision that makes teams better.

"But there are some players I think about like Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes that are really technical players that I think will excel with him. Also I think some players may re-emerge, a player like Marcus Rashford, for example, plays technically sound football and is someone I think that fits well into his system."
