Erik ten Hag 'targets' €50m defensive upgrade and other Manchester United transfer rumours

Manchester United are considering a move for Inter Milan full-back Federico Dimarco when the market reopens, according to fresh reports in Italy.

United have Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Sergio Reguilon competing for one position at left-back. However, the club are said to be eyeing up possible improvements.

The Manchester Evening News understands United are initially planning to make four key signings next summer with a new full-back on their shopping list. Erik ten Hag and his recruitment staff are, perhaps, more likely to strengthen at right-back than on the left.

However, reports from Italian publication Calciomercato highlight interest from United in Dimarco, with €50million mooted as a ballpark transfer fee. The player has operated in several positions throughout his career, but he mainly features on the left flank in a 3-4-3 formation for his current side.

PSG are also thought to be keen on Dimarco. His contract with Inter runs until 2026.

Elsewhere, reports from TeamTalk suggest United have firmed up their interest in highly-rated Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, but the club might have to wait until next summer to do business. Guehi, 23, is now thought to be valued at around £75million after breaking into the international squad.

The former Chelsea defender has six England caps to his name. Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham are also claimed to be monitoring his situation.

However, that mooted fee could be one stumbling block. Guehi has played 91 games for Palace in all competitions - with five goals to his name - since signing for them from boyhood club
