Erik ten Hag’s Sir Alex Ferguson interaction and more moments missed in Manchester United vs Newcastle

Manchester United were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw against Newcastle United at Old Trafford as the Reds rued their missed opportunities to score.

United failed to capitalise on a handful of glorious chances to win the game against Newcastle, as both Marcus Rashford and Fred were found guilty of missing golden opportunities to score for the Reds. Ten Hag's side failed to find a spark in front of their own fans, mustering only two shots on target during the match.

Fred somehow managed to put the ball wide when presented with an open goal, after Rashford did well to beat the offside trap and flick the ball past an onrushing Nick Pope. The 24-year-old then found the Brazilian, who opted to place the ball, yet his attempt agonisingly sailed past the post.

The legendary manager gave specially-engraved silver plates to both Ronaldo, for 700 club goals, and David de Gea for his 500th appearance for the Reds. Although both Sir Alex and Ten Hag would have been upset with the result, the pair exchanged pleasantries before kick-off
