Erik ten Hag makes exciting prediction about new Manchester United signings

Anthony Martial and Dean Henderson are both free of injuries and are ready to play, Erik ten Hag has reiterated.

Manchester United take on Wolves in their opening match of the new Premier League season on Monday evening at Old Trafford. Ten Hag has named a strong and expected starting XI with Andre Onana and Mason Mount making their debuts while the only debatable call sees Aaron Wan-Bissaka start over Diogo Dalot.

Both Martial and Henderson are involved in the match-day squad. Both players missed the entirety of pre-season as they recovered from their respective injuries.

Martial picked up yet another injury, this time a muscle tear, on the final day of last season against Fulham which saw him miss the FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City. Ten Hag expected him to be out for a 'long' time but although he didn't feature in any pre-season friendlies he has recovered to be on the bench at Old Trafford.

Henderson has been injured even longer as he underwent thigh surgery at the turn of the year which derailed his loan spell at Nottingham Forest. Keylor Navas was signed on loan from Paris Saint-Germain to replace him.

It's surprising the goalkeeper is even still at the club as he expected to return to Forest but an injury to Tom Heaton means he will likely stay and he has now returned to fitness to be involved against Wolves.

"They are fit but obviously they don't have game practice," Ten Hag told MUTV on the pair. "They have to make now another step that's clear but it's good news. Free from injuries, they are ready to play. We are happy with that, a strong side.
