Erik ten Hag makes decision on Marcus Rashford's future at Manchester United

Erik ten Hag insists Marcus Rashford will stay at Manchester United despite his agent and brother meeting with Paris Saint-Germain.

Rashford's brother, Dwaine Maynard, last week rendezvoused with officials from PSG, long-time admirers of the United forward.

Sources have questioned the timing of the meeting as there are less than three weeks until the transfer window closes and Rashford, 24, has indicated his preference to stay at United.

The suspicion from some is that Maynard arranged the meeting as a negotiation tactic to put pressure on United to offer Rashford a new contract.

Rashford has entered the last year of his deal but United have the option of an additional year to retain him until 2024.

United were unconcerned by reports in France of PSG's interest and Ten Hag stressed he does not want to lose Rashford.

"He's really important," Ten Hag said. "You have seen from the first day I'm in, I'm really happy with him, I definitely don't want to lose him.

"He's in our plans and he will stay at Manchester United."

Rashford scored only five goals last season - one as a starter - and his form has been an issue for 18 months. He squandered two glaring chances in the 2-1 loss to Brighton.

Shortly after Rashford was named on the bench for the Manchester derby at City in March, it emerged he was considering his future. Rashford had expected to start in the absence of fellow forwards Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.

Due to the exodus of attack-minded players at United, talk of a departure had subsided until Rashford's entourage engaged PSG.
