Erik ten Hag has two weeks to decide on his best Manchester United XI

For the second week in succession Manchester United's men's team are not playing following the postponement of their home clash with Leeds United. Erik ten Hag's side has already gone two weeks without a Premier League fixture and will now need to wait another fortnight before they return to action against City.

The international break will at least give several key players an opportunity to stay match sharp over the coming week, with many of them fighting to prove why they should be named in their respective squads for the upcoming World Cup.

For others, they will get a bit of well-deserved downtime after a hectic start to the season before returning to Carrington to train under the watchful eye of Ten Hag.

The Dutchman has already revealed he will use the upcoming international break as a chance to discuss long-term transfer targets and start to lay the foundations for any potential pursuits next year. But that isn't the only thing he'll be up to. The two-week break also gives a quintet of injured players a chance to return to fitness and, in turn, an opportunity for them to stake a claim in the starting line-up once they are match fit.

This is of particular importance because United's next match is set to be their toughest of the season so far when they travel to face City, a game in which they will need to be at their very best to get a positive result.

In order to get something from the game, Ten Hag is going to need to play his strongest line-up, meaning he now has a fortnight to decide upon it and work on his game plan to try and topple Pep Guardiola's side.
