Erik ten Hag has proved he is the ideal coach for Marcus Rashford
Manchester United fans across the world are likely to be heartbroken by Marcus Rashford's recent troubles. Unlike some in the United squad, there is no doubting the love he feels towards the club, but the academy graduate has impressed and frustrated on the pitch in almost equal measures.
For someone so gifted to look a shadow of their former self on the field is gutting, even for neutrals. His ability to carve open a defence with a piercing run seems to be missing, replaced by a stuttering and nervy attack which more often than not ends in the loss of possession.
It was not meant to go like this when he popped up with a brace against FC Midtjylland, the youngster looking unstoppable. The Manchester Evening News now understands that Rashford has been considering his future at Old Trafford since the 4-1 defeat to Man City.

If that is the case, then Rashford should hold off on any move away from United until their new manager is appointed. MEN Sport also understands that Erik ten Hag is the board's favourite to take over at Old Trafford and there could not be a better man for Rashford.
His ability to work with younger members of the Ajax squad should excite Rashford. Ten Hag has, in the past, been praised for the way he can get the best out of his personnel.
Former Feyenoord striker Pierre van Hooijdonk once told TV station NOS: "What he is managing to do with such young players is remarkable. The likes of [Matthijs] De Ligt, [Frenkie] De Jong and [Donny] Van de Beek have only just come out of the academy and are already playing like veterans. Ten Hag deserves huge credit.”
