Erik ten Hag has one last chance to solve Manchester United's biggest problem this season

When it has come to the art of solving problems at Manchester United this season, there haven't been too many puzzles that have left Erik ten Hag stumped.

He has successfully given United an identity again, restored standards and guided the club to its first trophy in six years. He is also on the cusp of completing his biggest objective for this season and guiding the club back into the Champions League for next term.

But for all of the positive, uplifting improvements that he has overseen this season, there is one problem that continues to come back and bite United time and time again - their away form.

In a campaign that has seen Ten Hag, who was appointed Reds manager a little over a year ago, turn Old Trafford back into a fortress, their struggles away from home against the Premier League's top-half teams has been a major concern, so much so that tonight's trip to Brighton & Hove Albion represents United's last opportunity to beat a top-eight team on their travels this season.

United, who were defeated 2-1 by the Seagulls on the opening day of the season back in August, have picked up just one point from six away games against current top-eight teams this season, that being against Tottenham Hotspur last Thursday evening.
