Erik ten Hag has already identified Manchester United's transfer priority in January

Watching on from the sidelines at Old Trafford on Sunday, Erik ten Hag will have become acutely aware of exactly what is needed at Manchester United.

Having dominated possession and had the lion's share of shots, the Reds managed a mere two attempts on target as United slumped to a goalless draw with Newcastle. With the quantity of chances that Ten Hag's side managed to muster, the boss must have been perplexed that they were not able to beat Nick Pope.

Sadly this is a problem that has haunted them this season. Just 13 goals in nine Premier League appearances is not the form of a title challenging side. Fortunately for the Reds they have stabilised their defence but it appears to be at the cost of their attacking threat.

Speaking ahead of tonight's visit of Tottenham Hotspur, Ten Hag spoke candidly about the two players that will help United improve.
