Erik ten Hag handed double Man Utd injury boost for Aston Villa clash

Aston Villa will take on Manchester United this weekend, with Erik ten Hag set to receive an injury boost for the fixture in the form of Raphael Varane.

Steven Gerrard's side have recorded three wins in as many games after registering victories against Walsall, Leeds United and most recently Brisbane Roar. Cameron Archer has been the star of the show so far, with two goals in his two appearances across the summer.

Villa will now depart Townsville where they faced A-League side Brisbane Roar and move on to Perth, where they will test themselves against a rejuvenated United side at the Optus Stadium on Saturday. The Red Devils are undefeated so far under their new boss, with impressive wins recorded against Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Melbourne Victory throughout pre-season.

Ahead of the fixture, Manchester Evening News have taken a look into the training footage of ten Hag's side, which has revealed a possible double injury boost ahead of the clash with Villa. Centre-back Varane and midfielder James Garner were both omitted from the squad to face Palace, but have both since been pictured in training.

Varane featured in the win against Liverpool but missed the last two, whilst Garner is yet to make an appearance under the new boss following a successful loan spell at Nottingham Forest last season.
