Erik ten Hag gives Manchester United his view on Mason Greenwood's future

Erik ten Hag insists the decision on Mason Greenwood's future will be made by the club, but he has had his say on what he wants to happen with the suspended forward.

Greenwood hasn't played for United since January 2022 after being arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, before he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

In October 2022 he was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but in February this year the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges, citing the withdrawal of a key witness and new material that came to light' meaning there was no longer a 'realistic prospect of conviction'.

United have since launched their own internal investigation into the issue but a decision on what will happen with Greenwood is yet to be made, with the 21-year-old still suspended and absent from training.

Speaking at United's New Jersey training base ahead of Saturday's friendly with Arsenal, Ten Hag said the decision is out of his hands but he has made representations on what he would like to see.

"It's a club decision and of course, I shared my opinions but it's a club decision and we all have to accept that," he said.

Asked if he would like to keep Greenwood, Ten Hag said: "I can't say so much about it but I shared my opinion about it, so let's see what's going to happen."
