Erik ten Hag explains Diogo Dalot decision as Manchester United injury update given

Manchester United will face Aston Villa on Sunday in what could be Erik ten Hag's final game in charge of the club.

The Dutchman has led United to just three wins in all competitions this season and defeat at Villa Park could well spell the end of his Old Trafford reign.

The United boss spoke to reporters after the draw in Porto to look ahead to the clash with Villa and reflect on the draw in Portugal. Here are all of the headlines from his press conference.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has clarified he is playing Diogo Dalot at left back due to the team's patterns.

Right back Dalot has started all but one of United's ten games this season at left back while summer signing Noussair Mazraoui has lined up on the opposite side.

United have been devoid of specialist left backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia for almost the entirety of the calendar year. Shaw played five games in January and February but has not made a club appearance since in nearly eight months due to hamstring and calf injuries.

Erik ten Hag all but admitted Manchester United are running out of time to improve as they attempt to arrest their slump in form.

United have won only three of their ten games this season and are winless in their past four ahead of Sunday's Premier League fixture at Aston Villa.

There has been speculation that defeat to fifth-placed Villa could signal the end of Ten Hag's reign. United are 13th in the Premier League table, lost back-to-back home league games 3-0 to Liverpool and Tottenham and they have won one of their past ten European ties.
