Erik ten Hag drops Manchester United team news hint vs Athletic Bilbao

Erik ten Hag will look to give the rest of his Manchester United squad 90 minutes in the friendly against Athletic Bilbao in Dublin today.

United face the La Liga side at the Aviva Stadium in their final pre-season fixture of the summer and it comes just a day after they beat RC Lens 3-1 at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag fielded a very strong side against the Ligue 1 outfit and saw goals from Marcus Rashford, Antony and Casemiro secure the victory.

Nine of the 11 players who started that game played 90 minutes, with Alejandro Garnacho replaced midway through the second half and Antony withdrawn with nine minutes to go.

Ten Hag will make 11 changes for today's game and will aim to get as many players as possible through a full game to get his squad up to speed for the start of the Premier League season against Wolves a week on Monday.

"We looked for two strong opponents on the final weekend. We want to get the players 90 minutes in the legs," Ten Hag told MUTV.

"Today it was good, nine players with 90 minutes. Tomorrow others will have the opportunity as well, we need it, we need a squad. It’s a very good opponent, a strong Athletic Bilbao, they play really decent football. I’m really looking forward to the next challenge."

One player who won't be involved is £72million striker Rasmus Hojlund, who was unveiled on the Old Trafford pitch before the game against Lens. The Dane has a minor injury and is a couple of weeks away from match fitness.
