Eric Bieniemy son jailed for shooting his mother while Kansas City Chiefs coach is away at training camp

The son of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has been arrested after allegedly shooting his mother and the coach's wife multiple times in the couple's Virginia home.

Elijah Zion Bieniemy, 27, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling, according to a press release by the Loudon County Sheriff's Office.

The release states one adult, presumably Mia Bieniemy, suffered "multiple gunshot wounds."

Eric Bieniemy was with the Chiefs in Missouri at the time.

A source confirmed to Fox News Digital that Mia Bieniemy, 57, was hospitalized overnight.

"The club is aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy’s family," the Chiefs said in a statement. "Out of respect for their privacy, we won’t have a comment at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them."

Head Coach Andy Reid told reporters Mia Bieniemy is in "stable condition." He added that Eric Bieniemy has left the team to be with his family.
