Enzo Maresca’s dad missing after Man City Champions League win as Turkish police search after 'all traces lost'

Enzo Maresca’s father has been reported missing in Istanbul after Manchester City’s City’s Champions League Final win over Inter.

The Italian coach, who has been linked with the Celtic job, is part of Pep Guardiola’s backroom staff and invited his dad to Turkey with him for the showpiece occasion. City won 1-0 thanks to Rodri’s second half strike, winning them the competition for the first time. But Maresca’s celebrations were shelved when it became clear that his father couldn;t be found.

Police in the city have been informed and are searching for Maresca senior, according to Corriere Dello Sport, but no updates have been issued as to their progress, with hopes high that they will find him soon. The organisation and infrastructure surrounding the game has been criticised. Traffic came to a standstill in the Turkish metropolis, with many fans having to abandon their transport miles from the stadium and start walking in order to make it in time for kick-off.
