England in Ukraine talks over fundraising friendly as Auld Enemy offer helping hand before Scotland showdown

Ukraine claim they are in negotiations to play a friendly against England before they face Scotland in a World Cup showdown.

The war-torn nation will soon begin training with their domestic players in Slovenia ahead of the June 1 semi-final, play-off in Glasgow.

This week they announced they want to base themselves at the FA's St George's Park training HQ to prepare for playing Scotland and they were trying to arrange a friendly in the UK.

And they have now revealed they have asked the Three Lions - who defeated them in the quarter finals at Euro 2020 - to play a special match to raise funds for the Ukrainian public impacted by the ongoing Russian invasion.

Ukrainian FA commercial director Artem Ryabov said: "I contacted the English Football Association with a proposal to play a friendly match before the play-off with Scotland.
