Jurgen Klopp in bombshell Liverpool contract U-turn as boss 'in talks' over long term Anfield stay

Jurgen Klopp has reportedly opened talks over a sensational Liverpool stay that could see him overtake Bob Paisley as the club's fourth longest serving manager.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss has made himself a modern-day Anfield legend since arriving in 2016, steadily rebuilding the Reds into a European superpower.

The German ended the club's long wait for a major trophy in 2019 by winning the Champions League and followed that up with their first ever Premier League title in 2020.

That earned him a new contract until 2024 but he reiterated as recently as March this year that he plans to leave when that expires.

He said: "It will be fine whenever it will be after I leave. The plan is 2024, thank you very much."

Now however the Daily Mail are reporting that Klopp has opened talks over a new contract after Liverpool dismissed Villarreal to go within touching distance of a third Champions League final of his tenure.

To put that into context no manager since Bill Shankly (14 years 7 months)
