Emmerdale viewers slam 'ridiculous' Laurel kidnap story and say 'just run'

Emmerdale fans slammed the soap's "ridiculous" Laurel abduction storyline as they pointed out how the character could easily have made her escape. Earlier this week viewers saw her kidnapped by Colin after heading to the councillor's house to collect his son, Marshall's passport.

Laurel was left fearing for her life after Colin insisted she convince his son to attend a conversion therapy camp in the USA after locking her in a bedroom. She then tried to escape Colin by knocking him out with his Bible, but after finding all the doors locked, he tied her to a bed before vowing to go after her son Arthur.

Thursday night's episode opened with Colin praying for forgiveness while Laurel lay gagged and tied to a bed. Later he told her: "Oh Laurel, I like this even less than you do. I want it over and it will be if you just help me...for Marshall, for his mother. It's just one call, please."

After police called round at his house, Colin drove away with Laurel to a local beauty spot. She then attempted to counsel him over his grief and "terrible decisions" rather than making her escape.
