Emmerdale favourite quits village with return 'unknown' after months of heartbreak

Emmerdale favourite Belle Dingle made a sudden exit from the village during Wednesday's episode of the ITV (July 31).

Heartbroken Belle recently realised that her husband Tom had been abusing her for months. The villain was violent, tracked her every move and even tried to trick her into moving to a remote part of Wales.

But while on their trip to Wales, Belle clocked on to his plan to isolate her as their holiday became a real life nightmare.

She managed to break free from his control and confirmed their marriage was over as she returned to her family home Emmerdale village.

But in tonight's instalment, Tom tried to suck up to Belle and made a comment about the security camera at their cottage as she realised he was trying to be "best buds".

Charity Dingle suggested that she get away for a bit and visit her dad and Debbie.

Tom managed to catch Belle before Charity drove her out of the Dales.

He asked: "You going somewhere?" as Charity informed him: "She's just going to stay with Debs for a bit."

Belle added: "Just to clear my head", but Tom replied: "I would have given you a lift if you asked."

As Belle tried to strap Piper into the car seat, she became annoyed with Tom's questions and hurled back: "I would have driven myself if you hadn't sold my car."

Tom continued to quiz Belle, and asked: "When are you back?", as Belle sharply replied: "I don't know Tom! When I am ready."

Trying to control the situation, Tom insisted that he should keep Piper, but Belle stood up to him saying she wants to keep her.

Looking confused, he then added: "I can't believe you are doing this to me," as he watched her get in the car and drive away."

Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX
