Emmerdale viewers are convinced they've figured out the identity of the deceased individual in the bag, and it appears to be a well-loved character from the Dales.

In Tuesday's episode (December 31), the soap teased five shocking developments set to unfold in the coming year. True to form, the village is bracing for more heartbreak, with potential fatalities seemingly 'confirmed'.

Adding to the ominous atmosphere, a body wrapped in black or green sheeting is seen being discarded into a river under the cover of darkness.

Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw shared some insights: "The flashforwards will tease several storylines that will reveal a sneak peek of what's to come across 2025.", reports Leeds Live.

"As our villagers toast the New Year, a glimpse into each of their futures will be revealed. As the fate of those depicted hangs in the balance, the only thing for certain is it's going to be an explosive year in Emmerdale."

These tantalising glimpses into the future have sent fans into overdrive, with many speculating about which characters might meet their end. Intriguingly, some viewers believe they've deduced the identity of the body in the bag.
