Emma Raducanu shares drastic measure in battle to be fit for Wimbledon

Emma Raducanu has revealed she is ensuring there is “no stone left unturned” as she battles to overcome her injury struggles before Wimbledon.

The US Open champion was forced to retire from her opening match at the Nottingham Open after picking up “an absolute freak” of an injury.

She felt pain in her abdomen during her clash against Viktorija Golubic and called for medical attention after five minutes of play, before retiring after just seven games.

Her latest Instagram post shows her in an oxygen mask, which is known to speed up the recovery process of injuries. The British star’s caption read: “we’re tryingg, no stone left unturned”.

The 19-year-old became the first qualifier, male or female, to win a Grand Slam last year at the US Open. She also became the first British woman to secure a Grand Slam title since Virginia Wade in 1977.

Raducanu has been blighted by injury since her victory at Flushing Meadows – she was hampered by her back at Indian Wells, the Miami Open, Madrid Open and Italian Open, and was forced to retire from her first-round match at the Guadalajara Open with a hip injury.
