Emma Raducanu reveals why Harry Kane inspired her to become Spurs fan
Emma Raducanu has revealed that Harry Kane inspired her to become a Tottenham Hotspur fan last year.
The US Open champion was spotted training in a Spurs shirt with her own name on the back yesterday as she prepares for this week’s Stuttgart Open.
Raducanu, who was born in Canada but resides in Bromley in South East London, previously expressed her support for England at last year’s European Championships but has now confirmed where her domestic allegiances lie.
After sporting a personalised Spurs shirt on the practice courts at the Porsche Arena, Raducanu told reporters how she started supporting the club.
“My whole team basically are big Spurs fans and I feel like they’re egging me on,” she said. “They’re desperately trying to get me behind them. I don’t necessarily follow football so much, but I feel like now because of them I’m feeling some sort of connection.”
The 19-year-old also emphasised that she enjoyed watching Kane play at the Euros last summer and is a huge admirer of his Spurs strike-partner Heung-min Son.
