Emergency services on scene and police cordon in place following serious incident in Bury

There is a large police presence in Bury this morning (September 7) after what the Manchester Evening News understands to be a serious incident.

Walnut Avenue, to the east of the town centre, has been taped off by police. Two officers can be seen standing guard outside a semi-detatched property on the street. A number of police vehicles are parked both inside and outside the cordon.

A local resident says police first arrived on the street around 11pm last night (September 6). Specialist forensic crime scene investigation officers (CSI) were spotted at the scene in the early hours.

The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has been contacted for comment.
