Elland Road transfer news: Leeds tipped to land Brenden Aaronson 'at the price they want'

Leeds United will be looking to tie up a deal for Brenden Aaronson before the summer transfer window even opens after being left frustrated ahead of Monday’s deadline, according to Carlton Palmer.

The Whites were hoping to welcome Aaronson to Elland Road before the January window slammed shut, but Red Bull Salzburg were unwilling to do business midway through the campaign.

TEAMtalk have revealed Leeds are confident of concluding a deal which will see Aaronson head to the Premier League in the summer.

The report suggests sporting director Victor Orta flew to Austria last month and head coach Marcelo Bielsa has identified the American as a key target.

United States-based journalist Roger Gonzalez has also confirmed talks had already shifted towards a potential move at the end of the season before the transfer window had even closed due to it becoming clear Salzburg would not allow Aaronson to leave with them preparing for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

However, Leeds could be set to face some competition for the 21-year-old’s services as reporter Manuel Veth has suggested AC Milan and RB Leipzig remain interested.

While Leeds’ chances of landing Aaronson have been strengthened as a result of The Athletic’s Phil Hay confirming the creative midfielder is keen on heading to Elland Road, it is understood there is no gentleman’s agreement in place with Salzburg.

Palmer believes Leeds will be working between now and the end of the campaign to get a deal for Aaronson in place.
