Leeds have 'huge admiration' for Brenden Aaronson and Jesse Marsch amid links

Leeds United are looking to complete a major player and manager double swoop by welcoming American duo Brenden Aaronson and Jesse Marsch to Elland Road at the end of the season, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Whites failed to bolster their squad during the January window and question marks remain over the future of head coach Marcelo Bielsa due to his current agreement expiring in the summer.

The Telegraph have revealed Marsch has emerged as Leeds’ first choice candidate to replace Bielsa should the Argentinian choose against extending his stay in Yorkshire.

The report suggests the 48-year-old is admired by those behind the scenes at Elland Road, but Bielsa’s future will be handled delicately.

It comes after it had initially been claimed that Marsch, former Barcelona chief Ernesto Valverde and Huddersfield Town head coach Carlos Corberan were in the running in the event of the Leeds job being vacated.

Meanwhile, The Athletic reporter Phil Hay has suggested the Whites feel Red Bull Salzburg star Aaronson will be on the market at the end of the campaign.

Leeds saw bids of £15million and £20million turned down during their pursuit of the 18-cap United States international last month.

Jones understands that Leeds – including sporting director Victor Orta – are big fans of Aaronson and Marsch, while he believes the club are confident that the duo would be keen on heading to Elland Road.
