Elland Road news: 'Agreement in place' that would give Leeds fresh 'financial clout'

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani’s dreams could become a reality thanks to the ‘financial clout’ that 49ers Enterprises offer, according to Daily Mirror journalist David Anderson.

Radrizzani purchased a 50 per cent share of the club in January 2017 and bought out co-owner Massimo Cellino later that year, but an agreement behind the scenes means he may not be the head honcho for much longer.

It was revealed by The Athletic in December that the investment arm of NFL franchise the San Francisco 49ers has a deal in place to buy Leeds for in excess of £400million.

The report suggests an option exists for 100 per cent control of the Premier League club to pass to 49ers Enterprises by January 2024.

It emerged that 49ers Enterprises had become minority shareholders in Leeds back in May 2018, with Radrizzani insisting the funds invested would be used to improve the Whites’ squad.

Their stake increased to 37 per cent just over 12 months ago, with 49ers Enterprises president Paraag Marathe becoming Leeds’ vice-chairman as part of the agreement.

49ers Enterprises now own 44 per cent of the shares in Leeds, following further negotiations last November, meaning Radrizzani’s initial 100 per cent control has been decreased to 56 per cent.

Anderson told GIVEMESPORT: “Radrizzani has got plans but, obviously, to succeed in the Premier League
