Elena Sadiku rubbishes Rangers as Celtic Women boss claims rivals had NOTHING against them

Elena Sadiku reckons Celtic should have beaten Rangers in Monday's massive derby - because their rivals "had NOTHING" against them.

The SWPL's top two battled out a stalemate at Broadwood which left Celtic top of the league, but owing only to their convincing goal difference. A win for either team would have put them firmly in the driving seat heading into the last three games but neither could find it and it remains balanced on a razor's edge.

It was a game of few chances at either end, with Rangers coming closest to a breakthrough from long-range efforts from Eilidh Austin and Mia McAulay - both of whom hit the bar from distance. The Hoops had the clearer chances but a rare off-day from Natasha Flint, who spurned two good chances to score, meant the game finished in a stalemate.

And speaking to PLZ after the game, Swedish boss Sadiku said: "I'm happy with the performance. Obviously Rangers had two shots off the cross-bar from distance. That was that. But otherwise they had nothing. We had chances we should have scored from, so even if we should be 'happy' with the point because we're still top of the league, I think we should have won."

Celtic were the happier of the two teams as the point keeps their noses in front, with Rangers behind them on goal difference and champions Glasgow City all-but out of the race six points behind. Sadiku went on: "Most of all I’m happy with the performance and especially how we came out second half. We created enough chances to actually win the game. I said to the girls ‘this is us, this is how we play’ and they looked like the best team in the league today.
