Mikel Arteta and Edu's decision to not sign anybody in the January transfer window has been proven right following Arsenal's 2-1 win to Wolves.
The Gunners offloaded Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona last month but didn't sign a replacement despite Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette being into the final five months of their contracts at the Emirates Stadium.
Technical director Edu was keen to sign Dusan Vlahovic but as revealed the Serbian international preferred a move to a top Serie A club before eventually joining Italian giants Juventus.
Real Sociedad's Alexander Isak and Lille frontman Jonathan David were both linked to the north London club but neither was signed in the end as Arteta explained his reasoning for not signing anyone.
“We are (were) very clear. We only want the best people and the best players at this club and when we are in a rush or different pressures, and the reasons are not the right ones to get a player on board, we decided not to do it.”
The Spaniard added: “I trust the players, the quality that we have, the spirit, the togetherness that we have around the team, and we can achieve what we want.”
