Eddie Howe gives fresh Ryan Fraser update and hints at Newcastle United rotation at Norwich City

Eddie Howe has given an update on the fitness status of Ryan Fraser following a further scan on his hamstring injury. The Scotland international has missed the last two matches after coming off in the opening stages of the 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at St James' Park. Since then he has had two opinions over the muscle problem.

Howe said today: "Ryan Fraser is relatively good news, but he's in a race to be fit this season."

Newcastle go into the game against Norwich City on the back of three grueling, albeit successful encounters in the Premier League against Wolves, Leicester City and Crystal Palace and Howe hinted at some slight rotation.

He said: "Possibly. "We'll look at it on an individual basis as we've had a big physical cost and we need players to be able to give 100%. "No new injuries.

"We may freshen things up. We've had a big physical effort so we need to be ready."

Given Newcastle's success story in 2022 the competition for places is flourishing and there will be no shortage of candidates aiming to come in and be part of it. Matt Ritchie, Dwight Gayle and skipper Jamaal Lascelles have all waited patiently for an opportunity in recent weeks.
