Eddie Hearn: Taylor-Cameron fight 'unlikely to be in Croke Park'

Eddie Hearn has said a mooted third installment of Katie Taylor v Chantelle Cameron is now "unlikely" to take place in Croke Park this summer.

Last Sunday, the Bray fighter's promoter admitted the focus would turn away from GAA HQ shortly with no agreement on a long-awaited bout at the venue.

Taylor became a two-weight undisputed world champion when avenging a loss to Cameron last November at the 3Arena in Dublin. In the immediate aftermath of that scintillating victory, she said: "Let's get the trilogy at Croke Park."

However that dream is looking increasingly unlikely.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Matchroom Boxing boss Hearn said: "We're considering a number of venues in Ireland but it's unlikely to be Croke Park.

Hearne added that he "had some very good conversations" with Croke Park officials who "understood the magnitude of the event, and it's something which is very important to Katie Taylor.

"But it's the issue of aligning TV dates and trying to get it right. We're certainly looking to make sure her next fight is in Ireland and that will be announced in the next couple of weeks."

Previous negotiations for Croke Park failed after Matchroom Boxing claimed costs were too high to make it financially viable.

Hearn said the preference is for a massive Taylor-Cameron face-off in May but he did not rule out the possibility of the Irishwoman taking on another old foe, Amanda Serrano, adding: "The Serrano fight is still a fight which definitely works, but the first two fights with Cameron were two fight of the year contenders and I think the focus is definitely on the trilogy.

"The latest would be early June but, in an ideal world, we'd like that to take place in May."
