Eddie Hearn reveals what actually happened to the $1 million bet with Jake Paul

Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn has revealed what will come of his $1 million bet with Jake Paul.

Last Saturday night, Eddie Hearn and Jake Paul were sat ringside to see Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano put on one of the greatest women’s boxing matches of all time. Both women gave it their all in the name of being the undisputed lightweight champion and in the end, it was Taylor who had her hand raised via split decision.

The win didn’t come easy with Taylor having to overcome some real adversity, giving Hearn a few reasons to be concerned along the way.

The win means that Hearn came out on top in his bet with Paul but unfortunately, it was deemed to be an illegal wager, meaning they’d have to come up with something else.

In an interview with iFL TV, Hearn explained what that would be.

“We’re talking,” Hearn said. “I want to get some kind of women’s, girls’ foundation going. To try and grow the sport. The viewership for the fight on Saturday was huge.

“It’ll be announced in due course. We’ve got to work off the back of that. So he’ll keep his million, but we want to do something.”

“I’ve always liked him. I’ve always thought he was very smart.

“He proved he was a great person to work with, and at the same time I’ve always known that he was a bit of a plonker. 

“Same for me, I’m a bit of a plonker. I think I really enjoyed working with him and he is really good for the sport in many different ways.”

Things aren’t going to calm down anytime soon for Eddie Hearn as he heads to Las Vegas for this weekend’s mammoth WBA light heavyweight title clash between Dmitry Bivol and Canelo Alvarez.

Hearn will be hoping that Canelo can add to the good fortunes he’s enjoyed from the last few days with Taylor but even if he doesn’t, we’d say
