Eberechi Eze transfer alternatives for Man United to consider - including England teammate

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze with the Premier League giants keen to bring in a new winger, midfielder and defender moving forward.

Eze, 26, has mostly been deployed as an attacking midfielder by Palace manager Oliver Glasner, but also has the ability to play on the left flank. With Bruno Fernandes locking down the No.10 berth, it is likely Eze would be sent out to the wing should he be purchased - at least in the first instance.

The England attacker is thought to have a release clause of £68million which becomes active next year. His arrival would raise a number of questions, including ones regarding the futures of several current United wingers and the role of attacking midfielder Mason Mount.

Mount, a £60million recruit, has been beset by injury problems since his arrival last year, having registered just a goal and an assist in 23 matches - of which only 11 have been starts. Meanwhile, the poor form of £85million man, Antony, not to mention Marcus Rashford - who has been inconsistent - have been points of debate.

One of these players, or others, could be moved on to make room in the squad for Eze. However, if Palace decide to play hard-ball on his release clause, then United must weigh up whether it is a hit their bank balance can take in light of spending limits and Eze's chances of success, while other avenues might need to be explored;

Of course, Palmer would cost a whole lot more than £68million if he continues his scintillating form of last season, but the attacker guarantees a level of quality that edges that of Eze. He took Chelsea
