Ebbsfleet United midfielder Finlay Barnes relishing packed schedule as club begin National League South catch-up with at least five consecutive weeks of Saturday-Tuesday fixtures

Ebbsfleet midfielder Finlay Barnes is ready to embrace their busy schedule.

The Fleet will start catching up on their six postponed National League South games this week, with a trip to Slough on Tuesday night.

They’ll be playing Saturday-Tuesday for at least the next five weeks but Barnes will take it all in his stride.

“I love it,” he stated. “Games is what we want to do. We want to play football.

“Hopefully we can pick up a lot of points. If we can build some momentum, it could be really good for us having a lot of games in a row because we can keep going and win as many games as we can.

“I’m definitely happy to be back playing football. I missed it a lot.

“Going forward, we know there's going to be a lot of games. But I think everyone feels fit and I feel ready and strong to play every game I can.

“I feel good. Obviously, I want to start every game and play football.

“You do learn more from matches and, obviously, with other teams playing more matches, they've got that little bit more experience with each other and stuff like that.

“But hopefully we can continue to grow with each other and keep winning games.”

Barnes has scored in the last two Fleet matches, an equaliser after coming off the bench at home to Salisbury in the league before the second goal in the FA Cup second qualifying round win at Maidenhead.

“I always try to get as many goals as I can throughout the season,” said Barnes.

“It's lovely to get a couple of goals early on, although it would have been nice to get another at the end against Salisbury.

“I thought it was going to drop to me but it was just bouncing around and I couldn't quite get to it.”
