Southern Counties East League round-up: Bearsted and Whitstable Town both win, Division 1 leaders Rochester United make it 10 wins from 10 games

Bearsted and Whitstable are setting the pace in the Premier Division after both posted big victories on Saturday.

Leaders Bearsted won 4-1 at home to Erith & Belvedere.

Jarred Trespaderne cancelled out Rob Strachan’s eighth-minute opener for the Deres before Luka Radojevic put Bearsted ahead on the half-hour.

Jake Embery made it 10 goals in his last nine games by adding the third before the break with a Freddie Cray own goal after the break ending any hopes of a fightback from the visitors.

Joe Healy continued his own scoring form with a brace in Whitstable’s 5-0 home win over Holmesdale.

The former Welling United and Maidstone man followed up his midweek hat-trick against Snodland with a first-half double at The Belmont.

Substitute Dean Grant’s brace and a Javaun Splatt goal in the second half completed the tally for Whitstable, who have a game in hand on Bearsted.

Unbeaten Rusthall sit three points behind Whitstable, and with a game in hand, after they drew 1-1 with Larkfield & New Hythe.

Both sides converted first-half penalties with Yassin Fares’ spot-kick for Rusthall cancelled out by Tyler Ibe in stoppage time.

Charlie Sheringham scored twice in nine second-half minutes as Snodland won 2-1 at Punjab United. The hosts had equalised through Anthony Adesite.

Three of the teams that started the day in the bottom four all won.

Chislehurst Glebe made it back-to-back home wins after Jamie Philpot scored the only goal of the game against Hollands & Blair.
