Ebbsfleet United manager Josh Wright reacts to 2-0 National League South win at home to Salisbury
Ebbsfleet manager Josh Wright wants his side to be more ruthless in front of goal.
The Fleet responded to their midweek loss at Enfield Town by securing a comfortable 2-0 home win over Salisbury in National League South.
But Wright’s men missed a series of guilt-edged chances in the first half, reflecting their overall tally of 15 goals in the first 13 league games.
“It was a bounce back and reaction from a really disappointing night on Tuesday,” said Wright.
“We started the game on the frontfoot and my only criticism of them is that ruthless mentality, that killer instinct.
“How we’ve gone in at half-time nil-nil really frustrated me but it was important we came out second half and put some pressure on. They made a substitution and tweaked their shape and it had a bit of an effect for them.
“But once we got the goal, I want to go and get the second and the third. It (can be) one moment or one slip that can catch you out so to get the second one was nice but I would have liked it a bit earlier.
“We need to get that ruthless side to us. We deserve that result but it could have been made a bit easier with taking chances.”
Among the chances not to fall Ebbsfleet’s way was an eighth-minute offside decision against Dominic Samuel as he turned in Kwesi Appiah’s shot.
Wright insisted that replays show Samuel was onside but he wasn’t going to blame the assistant referee for a tough decision.
“The one that did go in I believe is onside, I've seen it,” said the Fleet boss.
“I was told during the first half and I've seen it back and it is onside. I can't fault the linesman and I said that to them at half-time just walking out.
“I can't really fault it, it's one of them where you probably need VAR but Dom's onside. At the same time
